Apalachicola

Apalachicola Shrimping
Tallahassee is the most inland that I have ever lived. I'm a water person. I need to be around water. There is not any water worth swimming in anywhere near Tally, so I have to drive around searching for a good beach. The best beach within driving distance seems to be St. George. I've yet to travel East of Tally hunting for a beach, but when I go West, a stop in Apalachicola is a must.

I don't get you - Tally is completely surrounded by water worth swimming in. There are sink holes, lakes, rivers, and the Gulf less than an hour away. Go two hours and you'll hit the Atlantic Ocean. We're soaked! I do enjoy the picture, though - a buddy of mine who was raised in Apalach has a nice tattoo of a shrimp boat in the sunset.

I was very spoiled being able to go to Pensacola Beach whenever I wanted. I've been to the beaches that are due South of Tally, and they smell like sewage, maybe it was a bad couple of days I chose. I frequently kayak in Lake Bradford, but would not dare swim in that lake because it smells like dog; probably because the surrounding houses let their yards run dirty stormwater runoff into the lake instead of picking up after their pets. When I visited Lake Jackson it wasn't there. When I purchase my own kayak I'll be enjoying the lake by Maclay Gardens. Until, I'll have to spend $40 in gas to get to a suitable beach. I apologize if you think that's crazy, we're both entitiled to opinions. Thanks for sharing.
